MEATGRINDER is the brainchild of underground guitarist and songwriter SHANNON HILLBOM. While working in his studio in Vancouver, Canada, Shannon was asked by a special effects artist to write something scary for a horror film he was working on. It was supposed to be something to play for the director. Shannon wrote and recorded the song "HORRIFIED" at his studio and waited to hear from his friend so he could play him the mix. After a couple of weekes Shannon heard through the grapevine that his friend had been deported. The song was put on the shelf for about a year but the artist was listening to some old mixes one day and ran across his old mix of HORRIFIED again. He decided that he should write a couple more songs in this style and so MEATGRINDER was born.

MEATGRINDER is... a heavy metal sound cologe. The music is written and recorded by the artist with no vocals because the "meat" of the songs are horror and other movie samples with a variety of sound enviroments. Sometimes the artist will write and record the music and then sample and loop parts of the music. Seeking to find creative odd time loops and sometimes even reversing the loops or pitch shifting them... or both... If you listen to HORRIFIED or FALSE PROPHETS you will hear insane heavy music and layers of samples with musical parts in the samples being blended with the music and sometimes even pitch shifted in order to fit the keys and timing of the music. The artist has been known to have up to 50 sample tracks active in a single song. MEATGRINDER can't really be explained properly... It has to be heard really loud in headphones by someone with an open mind... to truely be appriciated.
